Reddit account warmup is the deliberate process of building an account's age, karma and contribution history before any promotional activity, so that automod filters, moderators and spam detection treat it as a legitimate community member.
The standard warmup protocol
- Days 1-14: comment genuinely 2-3×/day in target subreddits, zero links
- Earn 100+ comment karma before the first product mention
- Keep the 9:1 ratio forever: nine genuine contributions per promotional one
Why it's non-negotiable
90% of marketing bans hit accounts that promoted too early. A banned account loses its history, its karma, and often burns the domain it linked to.
